Digital Footprints
When we use the internet, we always leave a trail of data reflecting the activities performed by us. It means that we cannot make ourselves invisible from the cyber world. Further, the information that we leave behind could be used against us or in our favor of us. For example, when we search for a particular thing over the internet, we may be shown a similar advertisement.
There are two types of digital footprints-
1. Active Footprints
2. Passive Footprints
Active footprints are those, that we leave or submit intentionally. Example- email id
Passive footprints are those, that we leave over the internet unintentionally. Example- data generated after visiting a website.
With the increased usage of the internet, the trail of data also gets bigger. Sometimes we can erase our digital footprints but, it is not guaranteed that it is cleared from the internet completely.
